The glimpse of springtime weather this week seems to have brought us Parisians out of our winter hibernation. A friend and I hopped on her Vespa and headed over to the upper Marais to check out the newly opened combination coffee shop/concept store The Broken Arm.
We walked into the light filled coffee shop and sipped down a deliciously beautiful café crème made on their state of the art La Marzocco coffee machine. Their coffee comes from Solberg & Hansen, the coffee masters from Oslo and their baristas have been trained in some of Paris’ top coffee shops. Their pastries come courtesy of chez Rachel and their 12 euro lunch menu includes a soup, salad and a sandwich.
The trio behind this delightful café come from the creative fashion and lifestyle site De Jeunes Gens Modernes and as you walk through the sleek glass door to the concept shop side of The Broken Arm, you can shop for brands like Kenzo, Carven, Phillip Lim, luxury accessories by Aurelie Bidermann and more. The multibrand shop stocks a great collection of art books and magazines as well as local and well-known labels from across the globe.
The store’s name originates from Marcel Duchamps’ In Advance of The Broken Arm which suggests that any object can become a piece of art if an artist states it to be so. The Broken Arm is, indeed, a beautiful crisp breath of artful fresh air.
Definitely a wonderful new concept to add to the Paris coffee shop and shopping scene!
