Keeping Warm | Our Favorite Cold-Weather Spots

Paris is getting colder and the temperatures will only drop in the next few weeks. We all know that no one moves to Paris for the weather, so here are some of our favorite warm and cosy tea, coffee and goodie spots to keep your spirits high, and your fingers warm.

La Loire dans la Theiere

3 Rue des Rosiers, 75004
Open Monday – Friday from 10am – 7:30pm; Saturday & Sunday from 9:30am – 7:30pm

Named after the dormouse who gets dunked in the teapot at the Mad Hatter’s tea party in Alice in Wonderland, this classic cafe and salon du the is a Marais staple. A great place for a casual lunch with friends (their quiches are delicious) or spend an afternoon with a pot of tea and their to-die-for citron meringue tarte with meringue that reaches sky-high! The atmosphere is rustic and cosy with wood tables and squeaky armchairs and a few old sofas. Posters are plastered all over the walls and a great Alice in Wonderland mural brings a flea market feel with a touch of fantasy.

La Chambre des Oiseaux

48, rue Bichat, 75010
Open Wednesday – Friday from 9:30am – 6pm; Saturday & Sunday from 10:30am – 6pm.

This adorable cafe and coffee shop opened in March 2012 and is top on the cosy comfortable list in my book. The duo that created this spot decorated it in the stye of their grandparents’ homes with floral wallpaper, vintage-style mismatched furniture and cosy cushions and tons of little knick-knacks to add a touch of charm. Their weekend brunch is buzz-worthy but their baked goodies and breakfasts are what we love about this wonderful canal-side spot.

Colorova

47 rue de l’Abbé-Grégoire, 75006
Métro : Saint Placide
Open Monday – Friday from 10 am – 7 pm; Saturday &  Sunday from 11 am – 5 pm
01 45 44 67 56

It seems that everyone is buzzing about Colorova. Their beautiful pastries, modern, airy decor with pops of color,  soothing atmosphere and wonderful service are enough to get people excited. Their lunch menu changes frequently and is constantly fresh and a perfect light meal. It is their breakfast menu, however, that wins me over. Their 12 euro breakfast menu and 26 euro brunch menu includes three small pieces of french toast made of of croissant and pain au chocolat amongst their breads, jams, eggs and fruit salads. Colorova is the perfect mix of modern beauty and soothing comfort. Make it there before too many people line up out the door!

We thought it was a cute story too! I went there for years before even noticing the Alice in Wonderland connection. Thanks for the comment Carol!
