Craft Beer | A New Trend in Paris

When most people think of Paris, an image that immediately comes to mind is sipping a glass of wine outside at a café. The French know their wine and finding a good bottle of French wine is easy in Paris. Of course, Parisians also drink beer and large brands such as 1664 or Kronenbourg are all over. But finding a beer of the same caliber as a vintage Bordeaux has been, until recently, incredibly difficult. Since the end of last year, however, it seems as though that is all changing. The craft beer revolution, which has already succeeded in the US and elsewhere, is beginning to appear in Paris.  Beer lovers rejoice!

Here are 3 of our favorite places to sample French craft beers:

A Brewery in Paris | La Brasserie de la Goutte D’Or

Located in the heart of the vibrant Goutte d’Or neighborhood, La Brasserie de la Goutte d’Or is the first and only brewery located within the city of Paris. Open since October, the neighborhood has been buzzing about the unique tastes created by owner Thierry Roche. Stop by his shop and taste one of several beers he offers, including the Château Rouge, a red IPA accented with spices and the Léon, a darker beer with hints of ginger. Before leaving, be sure to pick up a few bottles!

The bar offers 20 craft beers on tap as well as close to 150 brands by the bottle with a focus on French craft beer. With this many beers to choose from, there is sure to be something for everyone. Stylistically, the bar resembles a wine bar with its emphasis on tasting several different types of beer in smaller quantities, savoring the flavors while snacking on platters of cheese and charcuterie. It is the perfect place for a laid-back evening with friends.
