In search of a lunch spot last week, two friends and I made a last minute reservation at Beaucoup, a new-ish addition to the northern Marais dining scene. Our first impression was that this place was taken straight out of NYC with its high ceiling, huge dining room (by Parisian standards) and very friendly, smiling service. They even asked us to wait at the bar while they prepared our table!
Unfortunately we were not seated at the fabulous blue sofa tables but the standard chairs were fabulously comfortable as we settled in to check out the menu. The 16euro 2-course lunch menu is quite the deal but our tastebuds took us to the standard menu. The menu changes to reflect the flavors of the season.
Some of our dishes were a little too experimental, namely the coconut-lemon mussels which were just a bit too citrus-y for our tastes but the other dishes were skilfully prepared and cooked to perfection. The chocolate tarte for dessert with a very strong coffee sent us on our way with full tummies ready to explore the Marais.
