Having snagged tastes of the Paris-based brewery in bars across the city, a few beer-loving friends and I decided to check out the Bar Demory Paris that opened on a quiet street just off the bustling rue Rambuteau in the 4th arrondissement. The space is over 200m2 and after distributing their beers throughout Paris, opening two pop-up bars, and creating lots of buzz around their brand, their final location is definitely worth the trip.
The Parisian brewery Demory Paris is not actually as new as you might thing. The brewery has recently reemerged after it closed almost 60 years ago. Its re-branding came at a great time as local breweries and beer-culture is just starting to emerge in Paris.
The bar has two seating areas in the back decorated with barrels and mirrors while the larger communal tables in the front look onto the long bar. There is a full kitchen downstairs that churns out some serious looking saucisses and during Happy Hour (6pm-8pm) you can opt for a little gouter of soup and a savory cake to pair with your beer. We opted for some terrine de compagne that we shared between the four of us with many additional helpings of bread. The perfect Monday night dinner!
Now to the good stuff: the beer. Demory-Paris has five of their own beers: Asroblonde, Cosmoblonde, Roquette Blanche, Atomique and the Nova Noir. We tried them all, naturally, and enjoyed them thoroughly. They also have a nice selection of “bieres d’amis” or “friends’ beer” that include a good selection of IPAs as well as a delicious raspberry beer. They also have a rather impressive selection of beer-based cocktails that looked interesting, although we didn’t try any. It was a Monday night after all…
The friendly staff informed us that you can buy beer to take home from them as well. And get this, its 6 euros for 6 bottles! We were, of course, very disappointed when they informed us that it was too late to buy them (they can only be sold until 9pm according to French law). We will be back there to pick up our 6-pack in the very near future!Bar Demory Paris 62 Rue Quincampoix, 75004 Paris Monday-Saturday: 6pm-2am Sunday Brunch
